On May 20th the Embassy of Ukraine participated in the signing ceremony of the Agreement between headquarters of Confucius Institutes (HANBAN) in China and Kyiv National Linguistic University (KNLU) on the establishment on this leading Ukrainian university of a new Confucius Institute. The Agreement was signed by the rector of KNLU Prof. Roman Vasko and Director General of HANBAN Mrs. Xu Lin.
This Confucius Institute will become the fifth such entity in Ukraine where the Chinese language and culture are learned. In previous years four other Confucius Institutes were opened in Ukraine: in Luhansk National University named after T.Shevchenko (2007), in Kyiv National University named after T.Shevchenko, Kharkiv National University named after V.Karazin (2008) and in the South Ukrainian National Pedagogical University named after K.Ushynskiy (2012). In addition an agreement on the establishment of the first Confucius Class Ukraine in the Kyiv school of Oriental Languages N1 was signed in 2012.
At the signing ceremony Charge d'Affaires of Ukraine Mr.Vasyl Hamyanin has highly appreciated the efforts of Hanban to expand the Confucius Institutes network in Ukraine.
