November 16, 2010, Ukrainian Ambassador to China Yurii Kostenko during his visit to Liaoning (North-East China) met the governor of the province Mr.Chen Zhenggao. During the meeting,the sides stressed that the state visit of the President of Ukraine Viktor Yanukovych to PRC create a considerable momentum in the development of comprehensive relations between Ukraine and China.
In this connection issues of cooperation between Ukraine and Liaoning province were discussed, particularly in banking and finance sector, and agriculture.
The sides reached an agreement that Chinese side will assist in finding on the territory of the province those enterprises that can be reconstructed by Ukrainian companies in the course of the implementation of the Northeast China old industrial base revitalization plan.
The Governor of Liaoning province expressed his interest in establishing sister- province relationship with Ukrainian region of Mykolaiv.
Ukrainian Ambassador also met Mr.Yan Xiaohui, the President of Liaoning branch of the China Development Bank (CDB), managing branch of CDB-Ukrainian cooperation projects. The present situation and prospects of implementation of Ukrainian infrastructure development investment projects were discussed, namely construction of a high speed railway to connect Kyiv and the Boryspil International Airport, construction of a new runway at this airport and reconstruction of coal-mines in Ukraine. The respective documents on their realization were signed during the visit of the President of Ukraine Viktor Yanukovych to China this September. The total value of the projects is above 1 billion USD.
Ukrainian Ambassador to China gave an interview to Liaoning Daily’s journalists and laid a wraith to the monument to the Soviet soldiers who perished liberating Liaoning province from Japanese invaders in 1945.
