Ukraine’s Ambassador to China Oleg Dyomin has held a meeting with Zheng Dongshan, Senior Vice-President of China General Nuclear Power Corporation (CGN) on 18 March 2016.
The corporation is the biggest China’s SOE in nuclear power industry, which built and now operates 62% of total Chinese nuclear capacities, and is among the first 30 companies of TOP 100 Corporations of China. CGN covers the various power sectors, and in addition to the nuclear energy field it realizes the hydro, wind and solar projects. Within all above power sectors the corporation conducts the active and wide international cooperation in Asia, Europe and Africa. The most known actual CGN overseas project is the construction of NPP in Great Britain together with the French power giant EDF.
The parties have discussed the possible ways of CGN’ cooperation with the nuclear power companies of Ukraine during the meeting. Particularly, CGN considers its possible participation in the upgrade of existing and construction of new nuclear capacities in Ukraine taking into account the involvement of Ukrainian manufacturers of power engineering equipment and installations and the participation in alternative power projects.
The CGN working group intents the soon visit to Ukraine where they plan to hold the meetings with Ukrainian nuclear power authorities as well as the heads of leading power engineering enterprises in order to discuss the cooperation projects, which may be fixed in the appropriate intergovernmental agreement.
