On June 25th, representatives of the Embassy of Ukraine to China took part in a presentation of a Chinese language edition of Isaac Babel’s “Red Cavalry”, translated into Chinese by a known writer and translator Sun Yue.
Chinese writers, translators, professors discussed the importance of Babel’s works for the literature processes of the XX century, the necessity of the widest possible introduction of the best samples of Ukrainian and Russian literature to the Chinese readers.
A representative of the Ukrainian diplomatic institution emphasized the importance of “Red Cavalry”’s edition in China in a broader context of deepening of Ukraine-China relations, in particular, in cultural sphere, and drew the attention of those present to the modern Ukrainian literature – very rich both in form, and in content.

On the margins of the event, the issued related to an ambitious project – translation into Chinese of a series of book for children by Ukrainian authors, first of all of Vsevolod Nestaiko – was discussed.
