On September 23, 2016 Taras Shevchenko art museum and exhibition “Immortal glory – a tribute to Taras Shevchenko” were solemnly inaugurated in Beijing in the framework of celebration of the 25th anniversary of the Independence of Ukraine. The exhibition presents engravings of Great Kobzar, courtesy of the Taras Shevchenko Museum in Kyiv, as well as Chinese artists’ works about his life and oeuvres.
This art platform was opened on the basis of the memorial complex of the outstanding Chinese artist Lee Kezhang, whose name is known far beyond the country.
Addressing the participants of the event, Ambassador of Ukraine to China Mr. Oleg Dyomin noted that the opening of the Great Kobzar museum in China indicated sincere mutual interest of our peoples to each other’s cultures. The Ambassador also emphasized a special meaning of the project as a part of cultural diplomacy between Ukraine and China, in particular in the framework of "One Belt, One Road" initiative.

In his turn, director of Lee Kezhang gallery Lee Gen stressed that Taras Shevchenko was the outstanding figure, because through the centuries he was uniting artists from different parts of the world as a muse and inspiration source for creative works.

The event was organized by the Embassy of Ukraine in China, National Fine Art and Architecture Academy of Ukraine, Lee Kezhang Gallery, as well as Chinese Calligraphy and Painting Academy.
