On January 20, 2017 a series of events dedicated to Ukraine's Unity Day and Kruty Heroes Remembrance Day were held in Beijing.
Opening the historic remembrance evening, Ambassador of Ukraine to China Oleg Dyomin stressed the great political and historical significance of the union of Ukrainian People's Republic and Western Ukrainian People's Republic to form a unified Ukrainian state. Today in the view of the Russian aggression against our country and the occupation of the Crimea and some eastern parts, the question of Ukraine's unity is no less important. Thus, the main efforts of the Ukrainian government and our invincible people are focused on maintaining the united and indivisible Ukraine.

The participants in the event viewed topical documentary and an exposition of rare photo materials about reunification of Ukrainian lands in 1919 into one Ukrainian state.

The guests also observed a minute of silence to the memory of Kruty heroes - the participants of the battle that was a symbol of the struggle of the Ukrainian people for many years, and to the memory of all who gave their lives for independence and unity of Ukraine, including during the Revolution of Dignity.
The same day Ambassador of Ukraine Oleg Dyomin and other Ukrainian diplomats laid flowers to Taras Shevchenko's monument in Beijing.
