On August 16, 2012, H.E.Mr. Yuriy Kostenko, Ambassador of Ukraine to the PRC, took part in opening ceremony of the 15th Beijing Art Expo-2012 held in Beijing with participation of Ukrainian artists. The event was organized by the United Front Department of the Central Committee of the CPC, Art Academy of the Ministry of Culture of China and the People’ Government of Beijing Municipality.
Before the opening ceremony Ambassador of Ukraine to the PRC had a meeting with the secretary-general of the United Front Department of the CC of the CPC Mr. An Guoshun. During the conversation Yuriy Kostenko drew attention on the substantial progress of the Ukrainian-Chinese cultural ties achieved since the establishment of the strategic partnership relations between the two states. Those ties are extending their influence on the mentality of Ukrainian and Chinese people, facilitating mutual understanding and consolidating friendship between them. An Guoshun highly appreciated the contribution made by Ukraine to the development of the PRC. In particular, Ukrainian classical fine arts tradition made its strong impact on emergence and development of fine arts in new China.
The Ambassador of Ukraine met and gave interviews to the correspondent of the Channel 2 of the CCTV and to the reporter of All China Information Network China.com.
In two pavilions of the EXPO art works of the Ukrainian artist Gennadiy Grebniov and Yarovyj family members were presented. These masters are recognized not only in Ukraine but in many other countries. The artists maintain close cooperation with their Chinese colleagues. They took part in a number of art exhibitions in Shanghai, Guangzhou and other Chinese cities.
During the meeting with the Ambassador of Ukraine to China Mr. Yuriy Kostenko the Ukrainian artists expressed gratitude for interest paid to their creative achievements and for necessary support of their activities in China.
