12-13 October 2018 Harbin (Heilongjiang) hosted the 7th Harbin international exhibition of scientific achievements and the 3rd innovation forum "45 degrees North latitude". The Ukrainian delegation of scientists took part in these events at the invitation of the government of Harbin. The following scientific and educational organizations were from Ukraine:Institute of Electric Welding named after Paton (Kyiv), Institute of Super hard Materials (Kyiv), Institute of Endocrine Pathology Problems (Kharkiv), Kyiv Polytechnic Institute, Kharkiv National Aerospace University, Kharkiv National University of Radioelectronics, Kharkiv State University of Food and Trade, Dnipro National University and Bila Tserkov National Agrarian University. Ambassador of Ukraine to China Oleg Dyomin headed the Ukrainian delegation.
Continuing the tradition started in 2016, on October 13 the members of Ukrainian delegation and Harbin colleagues, with the assistance of Hua Yue Dong Fang (a Harbin company)hold Day of Ukraine at the international exhibition, during which, there was Second Harbin Ukrainian-Chinese Scientific, Technical and Innovation Forum. Representatives of the Ukrainian scientific community made presentations of projects and programs of cooperation with Chinese partners, as well as signed several memoranda of cooperation. A number of separate meetings with representatives of scientific and industrial structures of the city and the province were organized.
In the framework of Day of Ukrainethere were the meeting of Ukrainian delegation with the Mayor of Harbin and leaders of scientific institutions of the city. The Chinese side expressed serious interest in further development of partnership with Ukraine, taking into account the effectiveness of the joint projects that are already being implemented in the city and the province: in particular, the purification of silt layers of urban runoff and the production of fuel, and the use of live tissue welding technologies in surgery. It was agreed that in the near future there will be several exchanges of specialists, in particular, in the field of medicine and nutrition to study the Ukrainian and Chinese experience, practical implementation of technologies, methods and practices, creation of joint laboratories and research centers.
In addition to scientific, technical and innovative cooperation, the issues of humanitarian cooperation were discussed. Ambassador Oleg Demin expressed gratitude to the leadership of city for the assistance in the repairing the Orthodox Church of the Intercession, which was built last century at the costs of Ukrainian community of Harbin. The Church, which today has about 100 parishioners, is the only Orthodox institution in China. Parishioners of the church and employees of the Representative Office of Kharkiv region in Heilongjiang province (a structural unit of Hua Yue Dong Fang) take care of the graves of Ukrainians who are buried at the city cemetery Huangshan. Ambassador Oleg Demin visited the Church, met its rector and presented an Orthodox icon.
