On December 7, solemn events were held in Kiev to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine and its President Boris Paton.
President Poroshenko, Prime Minister Volodymyr Groysman, leading Ukrainian scientists, public figures and foreign guests from more than 10 countries, including the Chinese delegation led by President of the Academy of Sciences of China Bai Chunli, took part in the celebrations.
President Petro Poroshenko noted that over a hundred years of its existence, the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine has become one of the most powerful scientific centers in Europe and the results of its scientific research contributed to the recognition of our state and glorified all over the world.
The President also praised the personal contribution to the development of Ukrainian science by Boris Paton, who heads the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine since 1962, and presented him with an honorary state award - the Order of Prince Yaroslav the Wise, 2nd degree.
In his speech, President Bai Chunli said that the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine and its President Boris Paton made an outstanding contribution to the development of global scientific and technological progress and expressed hope for further strengthening of bilateral cooperation, which already brings excellent results.
