On August 30, 2025, the Embassy of Ukraine in the People’s Republic of China hosted a solemn event to mark the 34th anniversary of the restoration of Ukraine’s Independence.

In his welcoming address, the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Ukraine to the PRC, Olexander Nechytaylo, emphasized: “Together we are celebrating not only the anniversary of our Independence, but also the strength we draw from one another, even far from our homeland. Ukraine is each of us, wherever we may be. And as long as we stand together, it will never lose its freedom.”

Guests had the opportunity to view a unique exhibition of Ukrainian wartime postage stamps, which reflect the history of our nation’s struggle and resilience, as well as to experience innovative VR projects (“Masterpieces of NAMU,” “War Up Close,” and “The House Where Ukrainian Diplomacy Was Born”). A screening of the short film “Fortress Mariupol. Orest”, held as part of the Docudays UA Film Club at the Embassy of Ukraine in China, became one of the highlights of the evening. Following the screening, an online discussion took place with the film’s director, Yuliia Honcharuk, and the main protagonist, Dmytro Kozatskyi (Orest). This format of communication was truly inspiring, as it allowed participants to address questions directly to the creators and the hero of the film, transmitting powerful emotions to all involved.

Special attention was drawn to an insightful presentation by Iryna Zhurenko, who shared the outcomes of her participation in the All-Ukrainian Conference “AntIDote: Unity.” At the conclusion of the evening, the Embassy of Ukraine in China also presented its upcoming cultural and artistic events scheduled for September–December 2025.

A separate part of the event featured a presentation of a souvenir shop prepared by activists of the Ukrainian community in Beijing. All proceeds were fully donated through the UNITED24 platform.

Such gatherings not only unite the Ukrainian community abroad but also serve as a reminder of the importance of supporting Ukraine worldwide. They inspire and affirm that even far from the Homeland, each person can contribute to the common cause – the defense of freedom and independence.
