On March 9th, 2013, in order to mark 199-th anniversary of the birth of Taras Shevchenko and to promote the Ukrainian cultural heritage in China, the flower laying ceremony at the monument to Great Kobzar was held in Chaoyang park, Beijing.

of China Dr.Vasyl Gamianin, curator and employees of the Beijing Jintai Art Museum, representative of the Children’s Art Association of China and diplomats of the Embassy together with their family members took part in the event.
In his remarks before the attendees, V. Gamianin emphasized on the significance of life and accomplishments of Taras Shevchenko as a symbol of patriotism and the immortal strength of spirit, on the importance of his poetry to the modern Ukrainian society and the world community as a whole.
The curator of the BeijingJintaiArt Museum stressed that the tradition of appreciation of Taras Shevchenko as a creative genius is still continuing. Young generation of teachers, students and pupils are interested in his biography and poetic works.
Some children of the Embassy employees declaimed Shevchenko’s poems before the audience.
