Beijing, June 6 (Xinhua) In an exclusive interview to Xinhua News Agency, Ukrainian Ambassador said that the new Ukrainian government will maintain friendly foreign policy and continue to deepen strategic cooperation with China.
In Ukraine's presidential election held recently, Poroshenko became the new President of Ukraine. On June 4th Chinese President Xi Jinping held telephone talk with Poroshenko, congratulated him on his election as President of Ukraine.
Dyomin said, in recent years Ukraine-China strategic partnership is developing very fast. Last December two countries signed the treaty of friendship and cooperation between Ukraine and China and approved the implementation of the strategic partnership development plan (2014-2018 ).
Dyomin emphasized, that Ukrainian crisis will not affect cooperation with China. "Ukrainian government had made a clear commitment to abide by all the documents signed by two countries, as well as existing cooperation projects, and hopes to push cooperation to a higher level."
As for the bilateral pragmatic cooperation, Dyomin said that the two economies are highly complementary. Ukraine needs China's modern technology and equipment, while China is interested in Ukrainian agricultural and technological cooperation. In recent years, bilateral trade, in particular Ukraine's export to China, has shown a steady growth.
Agricultural cooperation between Ukraine and China in recent years is in active progress. Dyomin said that Ukraine exports agricultural products in large numbers to China.The two sides are actively discussing the establishment of joint ventures, co-production of grain, vegetable oil and other agricultural products to China. In addition, the Ukrainian poultry production and processing industry is relatively developed. Thus, later Ukraine has inclined to expand poultry export to China by its standards.
"Experts are still actively discussing establishing a joint aviation machinery and equipment manufacturing joint venture by two countries. This will be an example of bilateral investment cooperation and mutual integration of industrial complex of both countries." Dyomin emphasized, that "Chinese business is interested in investing in Ukraine. While Ukrainian entrepreneurs also actively explore the Chinese market. "
Energy and infrastructure construction is an important area of cooperation between Ukraine and China. Dyomin said, the two countries explore the possibility of cooperation in coal mining, construction of highways and deep-water port and other projects. In addition, the two sides also hope to cooperate in the area of modern communications technology. Dyomin underlined, that "it will involve new technologies, massive investments for building infrastructure, expanding cooperation prospects, which will require huge efforts from both sides."
Last September, during the visit to Central Asia, Xi Jingping came up with the initiative of building the New Economic Belt of Silk Road. Dyomin indicates that Ukraine supports the initiative and is willing to participate. “Ukraine's geographical location, infrastructure has all the needed potential. Its agriculture, human and technological resources etc. allow Ukraine to play active role in constructing this economic zone.”
