On April 22, 2010, the Ambassador of Ukraine to China Yurii Kostenko held the meeting with the Assistant Minister of Foreign Affairs of the People’s Republic of China Cheng Guoping. The Ambassador extended condolences to the Chinese Side over a powerful earthquake that hit China's Northwest Qinghai Province on April 14, 2010.

The Chinese Side highly appreciated the results of the meeting between the President of the People’s Republic of China Hu Jintao and the President of Ukraine Viktor Yanukovych during the Nuclear Security Summit in Washington, DC, that took place on April 12, 2010.

In the opinion of both sides, this event has opened a new page in the development of the Ukrainian-Chinese relations.

During the meeting the issues of mutual interest were also discussed.
