On 8 June 2015, the meeting between Ambassador of Ukraine to the People’s Republic of China, Mr. Oleg Dyomin, and the Director-General of the Department of International Organizations and Conferences of the Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Mr. Li Junhua, took place.
At the meeting, the Ambassador of Ukraine handed over to his counterpart the letter from the President of Ukraine, Mr. Petro Poroshenko, addressed to the President of the People’s Republic of China, Mr. Xi Jinping, containing heartfelt condolences for the Chinese people in connection with heavy losses in human lives caused by the accident of “ Dongfangzhixing ” tourist ferry ship, which happened on the Yangtze river on 1 June 2015.
During the talks discussed were topical issues of bilateral relations and Ukraine – China cooperation in the framework of the UN system international organizations, including mutual support of the initiatives and candidatures of both countries at the elections to the UN bodies. The Appeal of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine to international organizations, global leaders and the international community of condemnation of rights violations perpetrated against the Crimean Tatar people was forwarded to the Chinese Side. The recent situation in Ukraine was also presented.
