On March 9, 2016 in the Chaoyan park, Beijing, in the framework of 202nd anniversary of Taras Shevchenko’s birthday and 25th anniversary of Ukraine’s Independence the Embassy of Ukraine in the People’s Republic of China opened the reconstructed Kobzar’s monument, whose author is a famous Chinese sculptor Yuan Sikun.

The Ukrainian diplomats and their families, representatives of the Ukrainian and Belarusian communities, as well as Chinese citizens laid down flowers to the monument of the famous son of Ukraine.

At the meeting the Ambassador of Ukraine Oleg Dyomin and the sculptor Yuan Sikun exchanged their views on the importance of Taras Shevchenko’s works not only for Ukraine, but for the whole world.

 In the course of the event Oleg Dyomin and Yuan Sikun in an interview for the International Radio of China stressed the importance of Ukraine’s promotion in China through Ukrainian famous artists and heroes.

At the same day Shevchenko’s readings were held in the Ukrainian House in Beijing, where the poems of genius poet were recited in Ukrainian, Belarusian and Chinese languages.
