In the events of the traditional Harbin Ice and Snow Festival an equally traditional Day of Ukraine was held for the third time in period 5 to 7 January 2020. Despite the holidays in Ukraine, a large Ukrainian delegation (25 persons), which consisted of representatives of higher education institutions, scientific institutes and municipal authorities of the cities of Sumy, Slavutych, Lozova and Odessa, arrived in Harbin.
On January 6, the 3rd China-Ukraine Science and Innovation Forum was held in Harbin under the organizational support of Administration of Harbin New District (Songbei), Harbin Commerce University, Department of Science and Technology of the People's Government of Harbin and the company Heilongjiang Huayue Oriental Enterprise Management Consulting. An integral part of it was a "Principals Round Table" attended by the heads of Kharkiv State University of Food Technology and Trade, State University of Railway Transport, Sumy State University, National Technical University "Kharkiv Polytechnical Institute", Harbin Commerce University, Nanchan Aviation University and Jiamusi University (Heilongjiang), as well as by a representative of Embassy of Ukraine in China and a representative of the Ministry of Education of China.
The simultaneous event was the Science and Innovative Conference, where, in particular, the projects of Ukrainian universities and institutions were presented as an offer to Chinese partners for joint implementation and commercialization in the market of China.
On January 7, the opening ceremony of the China-Ukraine Center for Innovative Cooperation in Harbin was held. The Center is a joint platform that will organize the works, communications and negotiations between Chinese and Ukrainian subjects of signed memoranda and agreements, and will provide support for all educational, scientific and cultural projects initiated by Ukrainian and Chinese partners. This Center is registered at the site of Jiangbei Integrated Development Area in Harbin New District. Its development will be ensured by the appropriate support programs that are in effect for the participants of this zone.
At the end of the event, the Mayor of Harbin Mr. Sun Zhe has a meeting with the Ukrainian delegation, where the head of the city thanked the Ukrainians for supporting the historical memory of the two peoples, long-term cooperation with Harbin and confirmed the further readiness of Harbin to deepen cooperation in all areas with the possibility to provide funding for the implementation of effective joint projects.
During the two days of the forum, memoranda and agreements on cooperation were signed between the administrations of cities and districts, universities and the China-Ukraine Center for Innovative Cooperation in Harbin (more than 10 documents were signed).
