13 March 2020 Victor Ponomaryov, Minister Counselor of the Embassy of Ukraine in the People's Republic of China, met with Yu Jun, Deputy Director of the Department of European – Central Asian Affairs of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the People's Republic of China. During the conversation the parties discussed main issues of the bilateral relations agenda.

The COVID-19 pandemic was definitely an important topic of the meeting. V.Ponomaryov has noted China’s successes in combatting the coronavirus epidemic inside the state, and has expressed gratitude for the assistance provided by the Chinese side during the preparation and evacuation of Ukrainian citizens from the city of Wuhan on February 19.

In his turn, Yu Jun thanked his colleague for these words and assured that in the near future China would finally overcome the epidemic and reach the high indicators of socio-economic development of the country planned for 2020. The Chinese diplomat expressed his hope that the epidemic of coronavirus pneumonia would miss Ukraine, and wished the Ukrainian people strong health.
