The ceremony in the honour of the first Ambassador of the People’s Republic of China to Ukraine Mr. Zhang Zhen was held in the Embassy of Ukraine in Beijing on October 31. The Ambassador of Ukraine Yuriy Kostenko conveyed the Order of Merit (the 3ed grade) to the veteran of diplomatic service and renowned social activist. He highly appraised fruitful efforts of Mr. Zhang Zhen in the field of Chinese-Ukrainian relations.

In response, the former Ambassador of the PRC expressed his gratitude to the President of Ukraine V.F Yanukovych for the state decoration, having confirmed his readiness to continue effectively assisting development of cooperation between Ukraine and China in various areas. Chinese officials, representatives of societies, associations and media took part in the event.
