On 31 October 2011, in Beijing, China, the delegation of the State Aviation Administration of Ukraine lead by First Deputy Head O.Grechko met representatives of the Civil Aviation Administration of China and discussed the wide range of issues on bilateral cooperation between two countries. The necessity of further contributing into closer relations between Ukrainian and Chinese people and the two economies and the important role of air transport in this process were emphasized on.
The main result of negotiations was the signing of the Memorandum of understanding between the Aeronautical Authorities of the Peoples Republic of China and the Aeronautical Authorities of Ukraine on changes to the Agreement between the Government of Ukraine and Government of the People’s Republic of China on Air Services dated 5 June 1993.
The signed document regulate an extension of the flights network by both countries’ air companies. Ukrainian air companies will be permitted to make regular flights to Guangzhou, where the Consulate General of Ukraine will be opened soon, in addition to existing routes (Beijing, Tianjin and Shanghai).
The flight frequency was considerably increased: from 4 to 14 flights weekly for each side.
Parties also agreed to perform analytics of the activities of Ukrainian and Chinese air companies by 2013. If a positive dynamics of air passengers and cargo transportation is maintained, both parties will react efficiently by increasing the number of allowed regular flights between Ukrainian and Chinese cities.
