On July 28, 2022, a solemn ceremony of raising the State Flag of Ukraine was held at the Embassy of Ukraine in the People's Republic of China on the occasion of the Day of Ukrainian Statehood.

The Day of Ukrainian Statehood was introduced by the Decree of the President of Ukraine, dated August 24, 2021. This memorable date emphasizes the succession of Ukraine from the state of Volodymyr the Great with its capital in Kyiv. That is why the date July 28 was chosen to celebrate Statehood Day, when Ukraine also celebrates the Baptism of Rus-Ukraine: the introduction of Christianity became a civilizational choice and determined the historical connection of Ukrainian lands with Europe.

Today Ukraine is marking Statehood Day for the first time while suffering from Russian invasion. With a moment of silence diplomats of the Embassy honored the memory, courage and dedication, fortitude, resilience and heroic deeds of the soldiers who fell protecting the state sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine and civilians who became victims of Russian aggression against Ukraine .
