On April 28, the Embassy’s diplomats took part in the traditional annual economic forum of Kherson region TAVRIAN HORIZONS. This time, the event was held in an unusual format – «online», which is almost the only opportunity for government and business to communicate in the context of the pandemic. Participants in the event, which brought together representatives of various branches of government, the diplomatic corps abroad, business associations, companies and entrepreneurs, discussed the development of the economy in the conditions of quarantine and after its completion.
The anti-crisis action program for Ukraine in the context of COVID-19, business vision and expectations, privatization, investments, infrastructure projects, anti-crisis measures at the regional level and the experience of China and Lithuania were discussed by the participants of the online investment forum TAVRIAN ONLINE HORIZONS.
In particular, the Minister of Development of Communities and Territories of Ukraine Alexey Chernyshov said that a business support program had already been adopted, 6 billion UAH had been allocated. In addition, a number of programs had been developed to support small and micro businesses, as well as credit programs. The Cabinet was working on the idea of preparing a program for creating «fast jobs», so that people who came out of self-isolation would be quickly offered jobs in various industries.
Dmytro Natalukha, Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada Committee on economic development, shared his own vision of the main trends in the world economy and politics. Dmytro Sennichenko, Chairman of the State Property Fund of Ukraine, presented changes in the approach to the privatization process in terms of transparent and convenient tools, and noted that in the conditions of quarantine, the preparation of projects for privatization did not stop.
Volodymyr Yatsenkovskyi, Ambassador of Ukraine to the Republic of Lithuania, shared valuable experience in fighting the spread of coronavirus in Lithuania.
Oleksandr Serdechnyi, first secretary of the Embassy of Ukraine in China, reviewed the measures introduced in China to quickly restore social and economic life in the country after the decline of the epidemic, and also outlined the key points of further development of trade and economic cooperation between Ukraine and China.
