Day of Remembrance and Reconciliation in Ukraine
08 May 2020 09:00

In World War II the humanity paid a high price for peace. Today, we mark the day when the war in Europe was over and fighting against Nazi Germany came to an end.

We remember the fact that during WWII up to 8 million Ukrainians were murdered, died, or starved to death. More than 7 million Ukrainians fought against Nazis in the ranks of the WWII Allies. Our compatriots were on the frontlines from the very beginning to the final victory.

For many decades we had hoped there will never be another war in our country. Until Russia launched armed aggression against Ukraine and occupied part of our territory in 2014.

Ukraine now protects not only itself but the entire democratic Europe. The one that was built on the ruins of the WWII and that was united by the main idea – Never Again .

We Remember, We Prevail
