On 24 September 2020, in the framework of “China Innovation and Entrepreneurship Fair 2020”, the Forum entitled “Sino-Ukrainian Scientific and Technical Cooperation Development in the Post-pandemic Period” was held in Guangzhou. The forum was organized by the Department of Science and Technology of Guangzhou City Government and Sino-Ukrainian Paton Welding Institute and Harbin Polytechnic University.

Representatives of the Academy of Sciences of Guangdong Province, Guangzhou City Government, China International Association for Scientific and Technical Cooperation, Harbin Polytechnic University, Sino-Ukrainian Paton Welding Institute, etc. participated in the forum. The Ukrainian Side was represented by Acting Director of the Paton Electric Welding Institute of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine I.Kryvtsun, Director of Sino-Ukrainian Paton Welding Institute V.Korzhyk who participated in the forum remotely through a video conference. The Embassy of Ukraine in the People’s Republic of China was represented by First Secretary S.Kuzmichov.

The participants of the Forum discussed current scientific collaboration and the potential for the development of scientific and technical cooperation between Ukraine and China, identified priority ways to deepen their cooperation in order to create the innovative technological equipment. At the end of the event, a solemn opening ceremony of the Sino-Ukrainian joint laboratory for the joining of materials and advanced production was held as a part of the Belt and Road initiative.
